frustration, but not futility

As a teacher and ministry leader, the end of the school year poses many challenges. Wrapping up one year, yet starting to work toward the beginning of the next one, does not lend a whole lot of time or energy for working out. I have found that my sleep habits are completely off track, my eating happens only when it presents itself as a small break between events, and workouts more often than not are crammed into "what can I do while working?" times. I had a friend come with me on a college visit and it was disheartening to see that even though I have been working toward a goal of fitness, the hills on campus proved to be intimidating and winded me. I am praying for strength through the next three weeks as I finish strong in my work, and I am already looking forward to a more leisurely time to really focus on "tending the temple" that God has gifted me with in this life.
Blessings,
Kim

changing things up

Okay, so my one-a-day program got sidelined by strep throat, Relay for Life, and prom, so I am back to two-a-days, six days a week. I actually enjoyed getting up early again and my body seems no worse for the wear. Food is my friend now that it is warmer and the fresh fruits are plentiful. We have also enjoyed some fresh veggies as well. I am gearing up to hit the pool as soon as the water gets a little warmer and will add that to my afternoon regime. I pray all of my teammates are experiencing some rejuvenation with the warm weather.
Blessings,
Kim

pacing yourself

Being a single mom, full time teacher, and part time ministry leader is a full life. I am finding that in this last six weeks of craziness at school, my time is limited. I am working on a one-workout-a-day approach, starting with anaerobic stuff and following it with aerobic. I can put in an hour and a half each afternoon, six days a week, and it is working. I still watch what I eat and am maintaining my weight and stress levels. Blessings to all the readers and all my partners in this journey.

adapting a routine is key

Have you ever had to modify what you are doing to get the most out of it? That has been my story for the past month. Sprints and six knee surgeries don't go together; the solution for me is Coach Power's dvd, jump rope, and an elliptical, in addition to or in place of weights. The afternoon workouts are a little bit easier, in that I have a great facility available; I am also looking forward to "pool season" when the water is warm enough for a great workout. Working out the kinks after a serious wreck has been a challenge, but I have overcome and am no longer hurting. The initial soreness is gone and I am once again trying to build the temple to please the God I serve. I appreciate the gift of "Fit to Serve" and all who are a part of this journey.
Blessings,
Kim

recovery and beginning anew

After a full week off, I am finally feeling well enough to get back into the gym. I am excited about the return but nervous about how much I have lost. I know that God gave me a sense of what I can expect of my body, so I feel that I have taken care of myself appropriately with rest. I can honestly say I cannot wait to get up and work out in the morning.

days off

Taking a couple of days off after being in a car wreck yesterday. Thankful to God that my daughter and I are okay. The bruising and soreness is bad today but will subside, so I expect to get back to workouts by Monday. Hope you others are doing well and progressing in your regime.

Kim I hope you and your

Kim I hope you and your daughter are okay. I take too many accident reports in my job and I know the pain and soreness that the collision can create. Take your time working back into it, and listen to your body.

Clay

thanks

Clay,
Thank you for your message. My daughter and I are doing well and I plan to resume working out this weekend. I have become good at listening and during this time have worked on stretching out and just doing some walking.
Take care,
Kim

phone call/Cassaundra

I Kim,
You called me yesterday and said you would call back and I did not get another phone call from you. You did not leave me a phone number so I could return your call...but you did tell me I could contact you thru the forum...I live in Cedar Park and I would like to talk with you about faith and fitness...and I also now see you have been in an accident....well, it is no coincidence that I am trying to reach you...I am a massage therapist so I could/can help you make sure you are doing the right stuff with your pain/injuries at least from a massage therapist stand point...I was involved in a rear-end collision 2 years ago as was my daughter...we both received severe whiplash ... no fun...but I did learn a lot from the experience...
peace to you and I look forward to talking with you soon,
Cassaundra Redman

thank you

Cassaundra,
Thank you for your understanding and patience. I have your number and will call you this weekend.

Starting Over

I feel like I am starting over in my exercise life. I was faithful in my teens and college years, active in sports, always moving. After three kids and a divorce, I managed to run after kids, but I did not always do what was best for my body. Now that I am recommitted to working on the temple God has given me, I find that I look forward to my workouts with a renewed sense of purpose. I have to admit that after day three I questioned the workouts, wondering where the muscles that ached had been hiding for so long. Days four and five found new strength and less soreness. Now that I've finally found a routine that works for my schedule, I don't mind getting up so early and I love coming home after work to change clothes and get moving. Not that it is easy, but I feel better and smile more. God is truly moving in my life as He has motivated me to move for Him!

a new attitude!!!

yeah kim!!!!

You go girllllll.....!!!! I'm so excited about your diligence - it's not in knowing "what to do," rather, it's in the doing it that's where the resolve and a reason bigger than ourselves that comes into play. As human beings, we improve and develop cumlatively over time... so consistentcy is the number one success factor.
