Can You See It?
It was really great to attend a recent CSRM Summit in the greater Chicago, Illinois area. Great strides are taking place in the church sports and recreation ministry arena. It is great to see that more and more churches are thinking about ways that they can use fitness to support their members and connect with their communities. All of us need to pray about how we can take our passion for fitness and use it for God. Can you see it? Your town coming alive to not only a healthy way of life but also a rich spiritual attitude. Catch the vision and bring that energy to life today.
Sugar
I have a high metabolism so I can eat generous amounts of sugar and not gain weight. Now I'll admit that highly-processed white sugar doesn't have much nutritional value however I still think it is better than the artificial sweeteners. There is now research showing that these diet additives aren't really helping people lose weight or keep it off. The implications of consuming chemicals regularly is likely to have negative health implications. Don't eat much sugar. But a little sugar occasionally is likely to give you energy and be much healthier than the chemical sweeteners. DO YOU EAT SUGAR OR ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS?
I just need a little REST
It seems like all the stress in life never ceases. Even with daylight savings time I’m still waking when it is still dark and going to bed close to midnight. And – I don’t mind all the bills or expensive cost of living as much as those annoying incidents where I dole out fifty bucks for something that gets me nothing. It seems as if I exert a lot of hard work for a whole lot of “not too much”. I need more time with the people who are important to me – my family and friends.
Lately, through my prayer times, God has been showing me that there are times being given to me --- that I’m totally through my own efforts trying to blow through. Last weekend for example, a major project was due (but it wasn’t done). “What am I going to do God”, I prayed. His reply, “Hey dummy, it’s the weekend, the sun is shining (remember your sick of all the rain). Get out there and have some fun with your kids.”
It works the same for breakfast and dinnertime, reading in bed with my wife or just sitting on the couch chilling out with my daughter stroking her long hair.
This is rest and it starts with me making a conscious decision to give MY AGENDA a break more often and take in the moments that are inevitably worth more than gold.
Does this ring true for anyone else?
